I know this doesn’t constitute as a film, more so a series of short films. I was particularly impressed with this series. The mix between interviews with the men who were Soldiers being portrayed, and the story itself really brings it to life. The aesthetics are reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan, being gritty looks, and shaky camera work. The Editing of this series is fantastic, cuts from machine guns noise as it fires bullets cut into the beats of fingers on a typewriter. I just don’t think you would expect beat-matching in a war film. Fantastic.
